(The Early Spring Garden of My Flat)

During my stay in Leeds, we had a snowfall several times in winter. But as it was not so heavy snow, it was no more than one or two inches depth. As a substance was spread to melt the snow on the street, there was no traffic problem.
In March, the snow, which fell in late February, also disappeared from the shaded garden of my flat. And I found snowdrops were growing there. Before long, crocuses and hyacinths were coming into flower in the greens of street and parks. The lawn was becoming greener day by day, blackbirds on it, literally black birds, were picking up worms with their vivid orange bills. In the meadows of the dales, many newly born lambs as white as snow were romping joyfully around their mothers of dirty grey.
